Top Free Programs Too Install On Your PC 2017 Edition

There are a lot of great free software out there are some my favorites.


1.         LibraOffice - LibraOffice is a great office program, which has a word processor, spreadsheet program, a presentation, a database program, a drawing program, and a math formula program. 2.         Crome – Crome is an alternative to Internet Explorer, and Edge, which is faster and more secure.

3.         Notepad++ - Notepadd+ is a great text editer that ivery useful when writing / editing source code

4.         Tightvnc - is a free remote control software package.

5.         Brave Browser - Brave Browse is faster by blocking ads and trackers that violate your privacy and cost you time and money. This a must if you want to be private on the web,

6.         VLC - VLC also know as Video LAN Client is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.            

7.         HandBrake - HandBrake is a great program for converting video from nearly any format to a selection of modern, widely supported codecs.

8.         Miro - “Miro is a popular, free, and open internet TV application. It brings video channels from thousands of sources and has more free HD than any other platform.”

9.         Audacity - Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. You can use Audacity to record live audio, convert tapes and records, edit sound files, change the speed or pitch of a recording and much more.”

10.       MediaMonkey - MediaMonkey is a music player and a music library manager with support for 50,000+ files and many features for organizing, tagging, converting and burning your music. It also has advanced podcasting and syncing features.

11.       Dropbox – Dropbox is a great piece of software that allows you to synchronize your files from one PC to another. By default you get you 2 gigs for free, which should be enough to sync files you are working on. If you need more space you can get it for cheap.

12.       Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Security Essentials is a free alternative to the paid antivirus for Windows 7. Later versions of Windows have a built in antivirus called Windows Defender.

13.       7zip - 7zip is a great free file compression / decompression program. It supports a wide formats like AR, ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DMG, EXT, FAT, GPT, HFS, IHEX, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MBR, MSI, NSIS, NTFS, QCOW2, RAR, RPM, SquashFS, UDF, UEFI, VDI, VHD, VMDK, WIM, XAR and Z. For unpacking It supports 7z, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP and WIM for packing.

14.       DBAN - DBAN is a program is great to securely wipe your PC to give it away.

15.        Artweaver is a program to simulate natural brush tools. It is therefore suitable to leave your creativity free run. Artweaver functions: realistic imitation of brushes, chalks, and charcoals; detailed adjustment possibilities for altering existing brushes and creating new custom brushes; common image processing tools like gradient, crop, fill, and selection tools; countless file formats like AWD (Artweaver), BMP, GIF, JPEG, PCX, TGA, TIFF, and PNG; transparency and layers; large number of filters like sharpen, soften, emboss, and mosaic; many effect filters; editable text layers (font, size, color, leading); support for pressure sensitive pen tablets; history function to undo or redo last working steps; support for plug-ins

16.       Gimp - The gimp is a great alternative to the expense to Adobe’s Photoshop.

17.       Imkscape - Inkscape is a powerful Vector drawing program             

18.       Kodi - Kodi is media center software for playing videos, music, pictures, games, and more.

19.       Obs studio- OBS Studio (formerly known as OBS Multiplatform) is a complete rewrite of the original OBS from the ground up, with the main goals being multiplatform support, a more thorough feature set, and a much more powerful API. While still in its early stages, releases are currently available for Windows, Mac and Linux."

20.       Thunderbird - Thunderbird is an awesome email client.

21.       Synergy - Synergy combines your desktop devices together in to one cohesive experience. It's software for sharing your mouse and keyboard between multiple computers on your desk. It works on Windows, macOS and Linux.

22.       Ubuntu - Ubuntu is a great free open source version Linux, which is very easy to use.

23.       NVU - Nvu (pronounced N-view, for a "new view") is a complete Web Authoring System that combines web file management and easy-to-use WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) web page editing. Nvu is designed to be extremely easy to use, making it ideal for non-technical computer users who want to create an attractive, professional-looking web site without needing to know HTML or web coding.

24.       Lastpass - “LastPass is a secure, browser-based password manager that supports Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Safari.”

25.       Virtualbox - is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2.
